FBR Annual Fund Raising Dinner & Auction

The 501(c)3  Friends of the Brazos River (FBR) needs your help to keep the Brazos River clean and flowing.  We appreciate all of the support local businesses have shown us in the past, and look forward to continued and growing support. 

 

We are seeking donations for our bucket raffle, silent and blackboard auctions from people and businesses who care about the river and recognize the economic and tourism value the Brazos and ALL rivers mean to local economies.  We are also seeking win-win donations that are a win for FBR and our Brazos River, and a win for your business through increasing traffic, sales and awareness.

 

All donors will be thanked on our Facebook page.  We typically have 200 guests, most of whom live, or have week-end homes, on or near the Brazos River or in the Brazos watershed.

 

Because we want the businesses that support us to succeed, we welcome donations that will also bring in more business, including ‘lead-in gifts’ which combine giving with a potential to do more business, coupons, gift certificates and ‘Two for One’ Shared Donations.  We also appreciate any printed information about you that we can display during the auction.

 

Please help us protect the Brazos by participating in our auction by donating!  All monies raised will be used to help our organization better our river in the following ways:

 

• Continue funding our court battle to assure that any contracts to sell water rights in the Brazos, and by default, all Texas rivers, include a plan that assures water will always flow from the headwaters to the mouth of the river.  We have been blessed with rain this year, and seeing water in our lakes and the river channel.  We work to make that a common sight, not a rare event!  Our past efforts have resulted in saving 400,000 acre feet a year from being sold out of the river.

• Sponsor annual river cleanups on the first Saturday of each April.  We have removed over 2 tons of trash!

• Work for the passage of legislation that is beneficial to the Brazos River..

• Strive for increased appreciation and respect for the health of the precious natural resource that is the Brazos River through:

  • Educating our members and the public about responsibilities of river recreationists;

  • Working with Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, the Glen Rose-Somervell  County CVB, The City of Glen Rose and the Somervell County Commissioners to establish a Texas Paddling Trail in Somervell County.

 

We need your participation to make this event special.  By supporting our work, you are also supporting the river that brings tourists and their business to our area.

We also encourage and invite you to join us for dinner!  Tickets are just $50 per person, $90 per couple, or buy a table for 8 (and keep promoting your business!) for just $400.  Invitations and tickets are also available online.
